Elias Pettersson is the best of the NHL Swedes this season and was listed for two new sticks tonight when the Canucks beat Los Angeles.

His 3-2 goal about seven minutes into the third period became absolutely crucial and made Rogers Arena boil. In addition, the goal came just 19 seconds after Kings, who had momentum, acknowledged 2-2.

- It was huge that we could respond that way. Especially since we were pushed back and managed to bounce back like that. JT Miller made a fantastic pass to "Petey", goalkeeper Jacob Markström said afterwards.

The Gävle son was listed for 49 saves, his best record in the NHL career.

"He was standing on his head"

The victory shooter Pettersson, now with a total of 41 points (18 + 23) in 39 games, paid tribute to Markström.

- He stood on his head again today. We didn't do any of our best matches, but we did a lot, but we have a good goalkeeper and he arranged the victory for us today, says Pettersson and continues:

- We know we can't play like this in the next game because then it will be tough for us.

The Canucks now have four straight wins, having lost five straight before.
