His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, yesterday received the Emirates Muay Thai team and participants in the Asian Nations Championship for the game hosted by the state with the participation of 350 players from 26 Asian countries alongside members of the Organizing Committee.

During his meeting in Qasr Al-Bahr, His Highness congratulated the team and its administrative and technical staff on the honorable results achieved in the championship and the outstanding performance presented by him, appreciating the efforts made by the organizers of the championship to make it succeed in what befits the state and its distinction in hosting regional and international sporting events and events.

His Highness wished the team success in achieving more achievements in various regional and international competitions.

For their part, the team players and organizers expressed their thanks and appreciation for the interest of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and his constant keenness to support the sports sector in the country, stressing that this support represents a strong motivation for athletes to continue their bids and develop their skills and provide outstanding performance in all their participation.

The delegation said that the support of the sports sector contributes to a major role in the continuation of the state’s organizational successes, which helped the development of the game at the local, Arab and Asian levels despite the recent announcement of the game in May 2017.

It is noteworthy that the UAE national team won the championship that was held in the "Muay Thai Arena" in the breakwater area on the Abu Dhabi Corniche during the period from 17 to 21 December, under the supervision of the International Muay Thai Federation, 17 colored medals that included four gold medals, seven silver and six bronzes, What put the UAE Muay Thai in fifth place in the overall ranking of the tournament, while the International Muay Thai Federation assigned to organize the World Championship during the month of June 2020 for the UAE during the vote that took place in Abu Dhabi on the sidelines of the Asian Muay Thai Championship.
