Tonight the final weekend of the new, money-earning, International Swimming League (ISL) competition series began in Las Vegas.

During the night, Sjöström participated in three distances. Of these, she won two.

Two hundred parts for Campbell

She started with the favorite distance 50 meters freestyle, and won a smooth and exciting race there. In goal she was only two hundredths ahead of Australian Cate Campbell. Sjöström's time was 23.43, eight hundredths slower than her best year, and 14th part of the world record holder Ranomi Kromowidjojo's world best year.

Sjöström followed it up by swimming the second leg in the 4x100 meter free swim and leading the team Energy Standard to yet another victory, before ending the day by "only" becoming four at 100 meters butterfly. Sjöström's time was 56.35, which was her worst time in the distance for the year. Her best time on the distance this year was 55.65.

Two world records

The water race made Kelsi Dahlia at a time of 55.35.

The highlight of the night was otherwise two world records. At the men's 50 meters freestyle, Caleb Dressel recorded a new world record as he swam 20.24 - two hundredths faster than Florent Manaudo's previous record.

"Not surprised"

And at the 400 meter medley, Daiya Seto swam 3.54.81 - 4.72 faster than the previous record that Ryan Lochte recorded nine years ago.

- I was not surprised that I broke the record. That's what I was aiming for, Seto said at a press conference after the race.

ISL is a team competition, and Sjöströms Energy Standard led the league before the start of the final weekend. They have won all the competitions so far this year, and took the most points this first day in Las Vegas, and are thus extremely close to overall victory.
