The Club World Cup is one of Fifa's tournaments that often pass large parts of the footballing public. But the European champions Liverpool seem to take the tournament very seriously and patterned a strong team in today's semi-final against the club champions from North and Central America, Mexican Monterrey.

From the start in "The Reds" there were Mohammed Salah, Jordan Henderson and James Milner and the English would also take an early lead through Naby Keita after a delicate crossover from the said Mohammed Salah. But the Mexicans were not slow to respond. Rogelio Funes Mori was in the right place when Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson returned straight in front of goal. Funes Mori could easily bump the ball into the nets and the receipt was a fact.

That result was well into the extra half of the second half. In the 93rd minute, Alexander Trent-Arnold swapped a low goal for the front post and there was Brazilian Roberto Firmino and with a delicate touch he was able to give the victory to the gang from Merseyside.

The final will be played on Saturday and then Liverpool will face Copa Libertadores champions Flamengo who won their semi against Al Hilal.
