Applause against black players at the stadium and hatred and threats from supporters.

Racism has long been a problem in Italian football and it casts its shadow over all the arenas of the country.

It has got Serie A to act with an anti-racism campaign. However, the initiative, which consists of three painted monkeys depicting monkeys, has been met by criticism. Among other things, the campaign has been called a joke.

But the artist behind, the Italian Simone Fugazzotto, now talks about his purpose behind.

- To answer the question I got a while ago: Why monkeys ?, he says at the press conference and continues.

- An initiative against racism that uses monkeys? At some point it becomes impossible to explain to people in the arena why you can't call someone a monkey just because the person is black. I thought I could teach people that we are all apes by turning the term around.
