Nashville got a long-awaited victory when the New York Rangers defeated away away.

"It worked really well," says Nashville's Mattias Ekholm, who scored one of the goals.

Ekholm himself scored his fifth goal of the season, when in a counter-attack situation he came alone against Georgijev and managed to outlast him and put 3-1 in the middle period. In the end, it was a pretty simple win with 5-2.

- The guys fought hard out there, played tough; It might not be the most beautiful match, but this is what it will look like when you work hard.

Sick for four days

Ekholm said that he had been ill for several days, and that he only went to New York at lunchtime on match day. There he took a nap before heading to Madison Square Garden.

-It was a challenging warm-up, especially when you were in bed for four days, but it felt like it could go. I tried, and if you look at my replacements, the length of them was probably really short tonight, he says.

Nashville had lost three straight games before the game against the New York Rangers. Coach Peter Laviolette was delighted to have his back cut back.

-He was really good, typically "Ekky". He's just big and strong out there and played an aggressive game, he says according to Nashville's site.

Zibanejad played to both Rangers goals, and was the only one from Rangers who was named one of the game's three best players.
