The Bani Yas team coach, German Winfried Schaefer, said that he would not be surprised if he was asked to take over the national football team as a successor to the Dutchman, Van Marwijk and that he would be happy with that as he had experience in training a number of national teams.

Schaefer said in the press conference today before the Fujairah meeting in the league: "If my name is in the list of candidates, it will not be surprising to me, in general, I love working in Baniyas Club and I feel comfortable here and I am getting support from the administration. The decision to take over the team training I do not have I'm alone".

Schaefer previously coached Cameroon in the 2002 World Cup, alongside Jamaica and the Thai team, which currently has 9 players who have trained.

"An important thing is that the next Emirati national team coach must live in the country and not appear for a week before each match," explained German coach Baniyas team, Winfried Schaefer.
