AZ is next to the team from Amsterdam thanks to a 1-0 win in the top match against Ajax. The team of coach Arne Slot won in Alkmaar by a late goal from striker Myron Boadu.
In the ninetieth minute, Boadu headed the only goal of the game behind André Onana. Ajax maintains the lead position due to a better goal balance.
The champion scale will almost certainly go to one of the Noord-Holland clubs this season, because the gap with number three Willem II is nine points. PSV is fourth with one point less than the Tilburg team due to the 1-3 loss against Feyenoord.
AZ-Ajax was the first match in the AFAS Stadium in Alkmaar since the beginning of August. The AZ stadium was not in use in recent months because part of the roof collapsed during a southwest storm.
AZ did not score a goal for the thirteenth time in seventeen Eredivisie matches. Goalkeeper Marco Bizot kept the zero for the seventh league match in a row. The last goal (and defeat) of the team of Arne Slot in the Eredivisie dates from October 19, when Teun Koopmeiners in the home game with sc Heerenveen signed with a goal for the 2-4 final score.
Ajax had a dramatic week and a half, with three defeats and no goals. The team from Amsterdam lost last Friday in the Eredivisie 0-2 to Willem II, after which they were eliminated on Tuesday by a 0-1 loss against Valencia in the group stage of the Champions League.

Feller AZ gets best chances in the first half
AZ was the brighter team on Sunday in the first half and that gave the home team the better chances. Ajax played with six injuries - Daley Blind, Sergiño Dest, Quincy Promes, David Neres, Zakaria Labyad and Nicolas Tagliafico (which did not come in for a short time) - with a strongly changed team and that sometimes led to mistakes.
For example, Boadu was only able to reach the goal after losing Razvan Marin. Just when Boadu wanted to moor, he got a little push from Lisandro Martínez, so he shot wide.
Shortly before, Joël Veltman had shot Ajax's first chance into the side net. For a long time that would be the only real possibility for the people of Amsterdam.
The more aggressive AZ was threatened by a blocked shot by Jonas Svensson and Boadu missed a second big chance. After he had dribbled past Edson Álvarez in a childish way, the neo-international of Orange shot into the side net from a difficult angle.
On the stroke of half time Ajax also missed a generous opportunity. Donny van de Beek was freed up in the penalty area and saw his slider pass right by.

Ajax will be better in the match after the break
AZ got the first good chance of the second half, but Calvin Stengs slipped into a promising position when he wanted to play, leaving the ball beside Onana's goal.
A few minutes later, the home team was shocked when Bizot released a pass from Hakim Ziyech. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar failed to crumble the ball into the goal. Shortly thereafter, Bizot strangely mastered a swabbing long shot from Ziyech.
Moments later, Bizot also took a long shot from Perr Schuurs. On the other hand, Martínez made a mistake, but Boadu was unable to profit for Onana, half stumbling.
In the final phase, Stijn Wuytens had the ball in for a corner kick from Alkmaar, but the AZ defender who came forward also mowed past the ball. With a corner in the last minute it was hit. Boadu won a duel against Schuurs and was able to hit the first post from close by: 1-0.
Ajax did not get a chance on the equalizer during injury time. The team of coach Erik ten Hag, plagued by injuries, will play two more matches until the winter break: Wednesday in the cup against Telstar and Sunday in the Eredivisie against ADO Den Haag.
