Hassan Al-Thawadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Projects and Legacy, which is responsible for Qatar's preparations to host the 2022 World Cup, confirmed that football is capable of bringing everyone together, pointing to the opening of three new stadiums for the World Cup next year.

Al-Thawadi said in a media interview on the sidelines of the activities of the second day of the Doha Forum, that organizing the most prominent football event in the world would correct misconceptions about Qatar, the Middle East and the Arab world, and build bridges of relations between fans.

Regarding the ongoing preparations to host the World Cup, Al-Thawadi said: "Our preparations are in full swing according to what we have planned, and we will announce the opening of three stadiums during the next year, and that organizing tournaments such as the Arab Gulf Cup (Khaleeji 24) and the Club World Cup is an essential opportunity to test our readiness." To provide a glimpse into what Qatar promises to the World Cup fans, keeping in mind our aspirations to meet the aspirations of fans and visitors coming to Qatar in 2022. ”

Al-Thawadi touched on the ability of football to bring everyone together, in response to a question about the participation of the Saudi, UAE and Bahrain teams in Gulf 24, which Qatar recently hosted.

"This tournament holds a special place for the people of the Gulf, and this version of the tournament came to confirm Qatar's commitment to separating sports and politics, as Qatar adopts a vision aimed at building platforms that bring people together despite the differences that may arise between them. We were pleased to welcome all Gulf siblings during the tournament. "

Al-Thawadi held a number of meetings yesterday, on the sidelines of the opening day of the Doha Forum, including his meeting with Otto Ramon Sunnholzner, Vice President of Ecuador, to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and enhance cooperation during Qatar’s participation in the next year’s edition of the Copa America.

The teams of the two countries play in one group in the championship, which is hosted by Argentina and Colombia in the summer of 2020.
