FC Utrecht won an attractive game against Heracles Almelo on Sunday. Coach John van den Brom's team was too strong on the Almelo artificial grass thanks to three goals after halftime with 1-3.
The home team still took the lead through Orestis Kiomourtzoglou in the promising game, but Utrecht turned the deficit into a lead after halftime thanks to Bart Ramselaar (twice) and Gyrano Kerk.
With the win, Utrecht nestles with fifth place between PSV and Feyenoord in the Eredivisie. With four points less, Heracles is the number nine in the ranking.
It was actually a small miracle that only four goals were scored in Almelo. Both teams created a handful of opportunities in the first half alone. For example, Jean-Christophe Bahébeck hit the post on behalf of Utrecht and Willem Janssen headed just wide.

Utrecht sets back the delay after the break
On the other side, Mauro Júnior shot just in front and a tip from Cyriel Dessers was taken away just before the line by Justin Hoogma. Just before half-time the home team took the lead via Kiomourtzoglou. The German himself set up a counterattack, after which he returned the ball from Mauro Júnior and hit the goal.
The equalizer could not fail to be seen given the game image and it was Ramselaar who took care of it shortly after the break. The midfielder cleverly turned away from his opponent in the penalty area and rammed the ball into the far corner. Mauro Júnior soon recovered the lead after a short while, but his free kick ended up on the post.
However, it was Utrecht that came in 1-2 halfway through the second half. A pass by Mark van der Maarel came somewhat happily at the feet of Kerk, who quickly turned around and hit the ground. Both teams also had chances for a hit afterwards, but only in the final phase did the final goal fall. Ramselaar hit an empty goal after goalkeeper Janis Blaswich came forward.
