The quarterfinals against Germany had not even lasted for a minute and a half when Iza Rydfjäll scored the first goal assisted by Emelie Wibron. The Germans who lost all their group games were pushed back throughout the first period and the reigning world champion Sweden could dominate completely.

Sara Steen extended the lead after just over three minutes and when Sofia Joelsson scored her second goal in the first period, the Swedes had the lead by 6-0.

The Swedish zero cracked

Despite Sweden dominating their matches in the World Cup so far, the opposition has still managed to get holes in Sweden, as well as in the quarterfinals against Germany. Alexandra Kurth cheered as if she had made the World Cup final when she reduced to 8-1. A counter attack where Anna Wijk tripped gave the Germans the chance where Kurth scored his first goal of the tournament. Sweden still to rest after the first period in the lead with seven goals.
