A similar decision was recommended by the WADA Compliance Committee. The sanctions are based on an investigation by the organization, which revealed manipulations with the database of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory.

The head of RUSADA, Yuri Ganus, confirmed to RIA Novosti that the WADA executive committee unanimously accepted the recommendations of the compliance committee.

Earlier it was reported that a meeting of the WADA executive committee had begun, which considered the possible removal of Russian sports.
