After four straight final touchdowns with Kais Mora, the motivation for the 28-year-old national team star Anna Wijk was so low that she considered quitting the floor. But after a long reflection period, she decided in August to run for another season.
- Partly so where is it incredibly difficult to lose as many finals as we have done in Mora and it takes a lot of time and energy. That was one reason and then I have my boyfriend in Stockholm and we have lived apart for quite some time. That was another reason, she says.
She still felt in too good shape to quit when a World Cup also waited just a few months later. This will still be the last championship she plays.
- I would say that, but at the same time I have said before that it is my last season. But the feeling now is absolutely that it is my last.
Wijk is currently working about half time as a youth manager for the club and she enjoys that, but previously she has had to struggle to make life as an elite sportswoman work.
- I am a trained teacher and previously I have worked 70-100 percent. It's really tough to get together an elite career with a full-time job that most women's players have. Obviously we wish we could have made a little more money and work a little less, she says.
