Henrik Stenson rounds off the year by taking on more or less the entire world elite in the Bahamas. The Hero World Challenge competition is played for charitable purposes and is run by Tiger Wood's own foundation.

The starting field, which consists of 18 of the world's 44 highest-ranked players, is full of star-packed names - and one of the most impressive is Stenson.

The 43-year-old followed up his inaugural 69-round (three under par) - where, among other things, he was brilliant at making an eagle - by going around five under par on the second round.

Stenson, who still has not won any trophy in 2019, was on par after the first nine holes - but then it loosened considerably.

American leader

With birdies on five of the nine closing holes, he went on a total of 67 strokes and is thus third in the competition on a total of -8. One blow separates up to Gary Woodland in second place and another three to senior Patrick Reed.

The latter has started extremely well on the island of New Providence, where the competition is played, and has so far recorded two 66 laps.

Stenson shares third place with Spaniard Jon Rahm, who recently took home the final on the European Tour and Race to Dubai.

Two strokes behind Tiger Woods with a total score of -6.

Engström leads the European Tour finals

Julia Engström is in her own lead after the first day's game of the European Tour competition on the Vipingo Ridge course, north of Mombasa in Kenya. The 18-year-old golfer went the first round of 67 strokes, five under par, and leads by one stroke before Liz Young, England. The Swede recorded six birdies and one bogey (hole 13) on the first 18 holes of what is the final of the women's European Tour.

Engström has shown fine form lately and was in second place ahead of the final round in Marbella, Spain, this weekend. Then, on the other hand, she fell to a shared fourth place after a heavy finish.

During Thursday, more Swedes also played well. Johanna Gustavsson, Isabella Deilert and Sarah Nilsson all went on one under par and share sixth place together with another four players.
