60 years ago, Frölunda played its first match in the highest series. Opponents were the reigning Swedish champions Djurgården who then drove over the Gothenburgers by 7–0.

Now it was the anniversary match with Frölunda in blue-yellow retro shirts. This time with Frölunda as reigning champion. Also a replay of the SM finals. There could not be better conditions.

Beech and sting

And it was a fight from the first drop. No acting, but bangs in all situations, lots of beech and sting.

Young Elmer Söderblom was unhappy 12 minutes into the second half. In his first exchange he was expelled for a high club and in numerical superiority Djurgården's Mattias Guter could come in from the edge, make a long haul and put the puck in net behind Johan Mattsson.

- I turned up to get a better angle. Actually, I thought I would fit in, but Sebastian Stålberg left me completely alone, says the shooter to C More.

dream Home

But Frölunda got a dream start in the final period. Max Friberg was able to hit the puck after only 45 seconds, a shot that comes almost parallel to the finish line from the left.

The match was jerky as many expulsions disturbed the rhythm. Djurgården had read Frölunda's effective powerplay well and effectively cut Ryan Lasch's opportunities to play through the box. Time and time again, the American instead tried to quit from a distance.

But in the end Djurgården couldn't resist. When goalie Mattias Guter got to look for the scapegoat, Frölunda could tip to his powerplay. And who scored the goal if not just Ryan Lasch. Frölunda had turned.

Frölunda bounces back after the loss to Färjestad most recently and now has eight straight wins in the home bout Scandinavium.
