The Copa America football tournament to be held next summer in Argentina and Colombia has placed Qatar in the Northern Group.

The Asian champions will play alongside Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru, while the southern group includes Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay.

The tournament will take place from 12 June to 12 July 2020, with the North Group matches in Colombia and the South Group matches in Argentina, with four teams from each group to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Qatar participated in the last edition of the Copa America held last summer in Brazil, where they drew with Paraguay 2-2, and lost to Colombia 1 - zero and Argentina 2 - zero.

Brazil won the final title after beating Peru 3-1 in the final.

The Copa America is the oldest in the world at the level of teams, where it has been held so far 46 previous versions, and Uruguay have the record as the most capped teams with 15 titles, followed by Argentina with 14 titles, and Brazil in third place with 9 titles.
