Already in the trial, Italian super talent Benedetta Pilato, 14, beat the junior world record in the trial.
In the semi-finals, she set her own record of 29.48 seconds.
But she wasn't done there.

In the final, the 14-year-old set her own junior world record again when she won the European gold at 29, 32.
Only six other swimmers did swim faster than that time.
- Impressive to pick this up in a final. She was very strong the last 15 meters. What happens to her when she comes out of her teens, asks SVT Sports expert Lars Frölander.

The first gold

Earlier this year she took the World Cup silver in Gwangju. The gold in the evening was the first for Pilato at senior level.
There will be many, many more.
- It will be incredibly exciting to follow her journey ahead, says Lars Frölander.

No final

In the same distance Klara Thormalm qualified for a semi-final. Once there, it stopped when she finished last in her heat in 30.78 seconds.
There was also no final for 19-year-old Hanna Rosvall who finished seventh in the semi-final of 100 meters backstroke.
