In 2015, Charlotta Säfvenberg stood for two straight 10 places in the World Cup and was lifted as one of the Swedish alpine skiing's new big promises. Then she disappeared, from the national team and the hill. The reason? Social Media.

- That's where it started. You see perfect stuff on social media and think it is - and then eventually it becomes a kind of reality, that everyone else has it so good and why don't I look like this or why I'm not that strong or have such a perfect life , says Charlotta Säfvenberg to SVT Sport.

The pursuit of perfection in the ski slope began to wash over in other parts of Charlotte's life. An already demanding everyday life just got heavier and heavier.

- I ate way too little and exercised way too much, considering what I got in me. I tried to make good of myself in school, in the ski slopes, in the gym, at home. I had clinically clean at home to make it look perfect. It was an almost manic behavior, and it wasn't just body-fixed.

Taken help from mental coach

In the end, she couldn't cope anymore,

- Everything would be perfect. So the brain was turned on 24/7 and it's tiring. You can't do that.

Today, Charlotta is feeling better. She still uses social media, but through a mental coach she has managed to get distance to all the impressions she is exposed to.

- You have to take it with a pinch of salt and know that everyone has their problems. Although the world's best sportswoman expresses that everything is fantastic, she also has her problems and things she struggles with.

This season would be the big step back to the world top for Charlotta. But after a cross-band injury during a workout in mid-November, she is now forced to stand throughout the season.
