Russia 29: 6:16 on 29 November against the proposal to ban the participation in the international convention for 4 years

In response to the WADA = World Anti-Doping Organization's proposal to ban the participation in the Russian international competition for four years on the organized doping issue in Russia, President Pozdonyakov of the Russian Olympic Committee said, “ “I have the right and duty to create a team”.

WADA, which has been investigating the systematic doping of Russia, has banned participation in Russian international competitions for four years and has come up with a proposal to allow only athletes who meet strict requirements to participate in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics with personal qualifications. It will be considered at the Standing Board meeting on the 9th of May.

Under such circumstances, President Pozdonyakov of the Russian Olympic Committee rebelled strongly on the 28th, saying, “It is impossible to raise the Olympic flag instead of the Russian flag” according to media coverage in Japan and abroad.

He argued, “I will participate in the Tokyo Olympics as a Russian representative. Based on the Olympic Charter, we have the right and obligation to build our own team”.

With regard to this issue, the IOC = International Olympic Committee has issued a statement supporting sanctions, and it is likely that severe punishment will be imposed on the Russian side.

However, Mr. Pozdonyakov said, “If you are not convinced by WADA's decision, you can challenge the CAS = Sport Arbitration Court,” stressing the stance of seeking national participation.
