In the 40th minute, the home team Valencia were able to take a fair lead when Carlos Soler pushed in 1-0 after a cross by Rodrigo.

In the attack before, Chelsea had a great position to take the lead when Valencia goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen made a big save on Tammy Abraham's header from close range. But Chelsea would get their payout when Mateo Kovacic won a loose ball and put the receipt to 1-1, just minutes after Valencia's lead goal.

And in the 44th minute match, Mateo Kovacic got a huge chance to give Chelsea the lead. Instead of goals, Jasper Cillessen stepped in with a new giant save and made sure that 1-1 stood out halfway.

At the end of the half, Chelsea's goalie Tammy Abraham also got carried out on stretcher.

Long VAR check

But it would not be long before Chelsea's turn was completed. In the 49th match minute Christian Pulisic put up 2-1 from close range after a nod from the sack Kurt Zouma.

It was still a few minutes before the goal was approved as the VAR room wanted to see if Pulisic was offside. In the end, however, referee Felix Zwayer was able to provide a clear sign for the goal.

Important points

Valencia began a quagmire hunt - and there were no chances.

In the 57th minute of the game, Rodrigo got a free kick after neglecting Anders Christensen. But despite Chelsea's goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga being far out, Rodrigo failed to put the receipt. And in the 64th minute, Valencia got a penalty after Jorginho dropped José Luis Gayá.

Team captain Daniel Parejo took care of the penalty, but then Kepa Arrizabalaga stepped forward and made an important penalty save. But in minute 82, the receipt came through Daniel Wass who from a poor angle put 2-2 in shots that was probably intended as a post.

The goal was the last of the match and the team got a point each in equal group H. Later in the evening, Ajax will meet last minute Lille and then the team can take the lead in the group.
