Boxer Otto Wallin near giant deal in USA

2019-11-27T06:04:55.115Z

Otto Wallin aims to be back in the boxing ring in February next year. Right now he is negotiating a multi-match long million contract with two major US TV channels. - It has to be smart and get a new big match. Don't just think about money, the 29-year-old tells SVT Sport.

In September, Otto Wallin went from relatively unknown heavyweight jump to star in his effort against world star Tyson Fury.

The Sundsvall son lost the match on points, but pressed Fury and hit a big wound early on over the British eye. Had the match broken at that stage, Wallin had been awarded the victory, but Fury was boxed on with blood running down his face.

After the tough match, the Swede has taken it easy and recovered, but in February he hopes to be back in the ring. The next match is also in the US, just like his last two fights.

Negotiating big TV contracts

- There were very good offers after the Fury match, but I try to be smart. Me and Joey (Gamache, coach) want the right matches, says Otto Wallin to SVT Sport on the phone from New York, where he lives and trains.

- You can't just look at the money and accept the first best proposal. I have been in such a good position now that it is important to take advantage of it.

According to data for SVT Sport, Wallin is currently negotiating with two major US TV channels that have come up with million-dollar contract proposals. A proposal extends over four matches and leads to a World Cup fight against one of the major champions.

- What I can tell you is that we work from a main track and discuss different opponents, but that this is part of what is currently lacking, says Wallin.
