Despite the defeat in the opening game, the Qatar team can compensate through the next two games in Group A in the first round of the championship against his Yemeni counterparts and the United Arab Emirates.

Qatar won three previous titles in 2004 and 2014 after also stumbling in the opening match in both versions, where they drew in the first with UAE 2-2, and in the second with Saudi Arabia 1-1.
