The Lexus LC 500 was the first model of a new era in Lexus, Toyota's high-end brand. The acclaimed 2 + 2 coupe was born in January 2016 to break with the sober and boring image of the Japanese brand and, indeed, raised passions from the first moment thanks to its spectacular sports design and its powerful atmospheric 5.0-liter V8 engine with 480 hp .
Almost four years later, the convertible version of the Lexus flagship sports car, the LC 500 Cabrio , has finally arrived, and although it has been made to pray, it promises to continue stimulating the senses and provide a unique driving experience.
It retains the dimensions of the LC 500 coupe, so it has a total length of 4,760 mm , a width of 1,920 mm , a height of 1,350 mm and a wide wheelbase of 2,870 mm .
Obviously, it mounts the 5.0-liter V8 engine with natural aspiration of the coupé model, combined with the 10-speed DirectShift automatic transmission , which gives the LC a linear but very stimulating acceleration. With this gearbox, the acceleration has a smoother character in normal urban journeys and is put to the limit when the driver wishes.
The four-layer canvas hood, which takes just 15 seconds to open and 16 to close again , can be operated while the vehicle is traveling at less than 50 km / h , and the driver can easily monitor the operation by an animation in the frame of instruments.
To be able to enjoy more of the V8 engine of the LC 500 Cabrio with the top down, it has an acoustic generator that emits special sounds of admission of the engine through the dashboard, while the exhaust valve enhances the sound of the engine. And, in addition, it is equipped with heated headrests and a transparent wind deflector in line with the comfortable and quiet driving of Lexus.
Released worldwide at the Los Angeles Auto Show (LA Auto Show), which is held from November 22 to December 1, 2019, the new Lexus LC 500 Cabrio is scheduled to be commercially launched in the summer of 2020 . Lexus has not yet revealed the price for Spain, but it should not vary much from the price of the Lexus LC 500 with an atmospheric five-liter V8 engine, which currently starts at 140,000 euros .
The brand has not revealed whether there will be a hybrid variant , but it would be logical to have it in the same way that there is also a non-plug-in hybrid version of the LC 500 called LC 500h . This model incorporates the Multi Stage Hybrid System and 3.5-liter V6 engine (359 hp), also atmospheric.
