Royal have 28 points in second place on goal difference behind Barcelona. Real Sociedad have 23 points in fifth place.
This is Real's eighth win, which has a game in hand, in the league this season versus a loss in a match and a draw in four.
This is the fifth loss for Sociedad in the league this season against seven wins and two draws.
Almereng is set to face PSG next Tuesday in the Champions League, then Alaves against La Liga on 30 June, while Sociedad are set to face Eibar on Saturday in the 15th round of La Liga.
