Since 2017, Oscar Carlén has been assistant coach to Jerry Hallbäck, who will be leaving after the season. Carlén takes over and has signed a three-year contract for the club he started his handball career in and with which he played until the Elitserien 2006.

- Working as a coach, aside from the plan, has also been mentally rehabilitative as it has enabled me to process the vision and feeling of myself as a player. During these years I have been given increased responsibility from both the club and Jerry, which has given me the opportunity to develop as a leader, something I am very grateful for. I hope now to be able to continue that development in the role of principal, says Carlén.

After his time in Ystad, Carlén was recruited to German Flensburg. He also managed to play for Hamburg and was also a Swedish national team player for several years but was forced to end his career at the age of 25 due to recurrent knee injuries.

Oscar Carlén, who has turned 31, will take over as head coach on June 1.
