The International Olympic Committee (IOK) has had a tough and careful selection process of Olympic judges to Tokyo. The judges will then be drawn to the matches under the supervision of independent inspectors. Points and ring judges are obtained from a judging group that is certified by the International Boxing Association (AIBA). This also applies to qualifying matches for the Olympics.

"The participating boxers in the Olympics have the highest priority through transparency and credible results and fair play," says Morinari Watanabe, head of the IOK's boxing work group.

This summer, the IOC decided to shut down the International Boxing Association. Instead, the working group was formed in boxing, which stands for the events of the qualifying and the Olympic tournament.

The basis for the decision is discussions with athletes where the aim has been to increase the transparency, clarity and integrity of the selection of judges during the Olympic competitions.

New is that points from all judges will be presented visibly during qualifying matches.
