Viktor Thorn was one of the few cross country skiers on the men's side who managed to perform at a good level last year. Together with Calle Halfvarsson, he was the only male rider in Sweden on the men's side to reach the top 20 in the overall cup of the World Cup.

But the period after the season has been tough for Thorn. Dual hernia surgery double matched Thorn for the gym and rehab, and it wasn't until today that he could stand on a pair of skis again.

- You are still a little careful not to fall or anything, but it was really fun, nice to not just run in the gym. I went really cool, and it will be so in the beginning, says Viktor Thorn to SVT Sport.

How has the rehab gone ?

- It has not been any weirdness, I hope it flows on as it did, he continues.

"I know I can join and fight for pallet seats"

What does the forecast look like now ?

- It will be good to continue rehaba, and then gradually increase during the winter and then compete again. I don't really know when exactly but sometime in late January, maybe the beginning of February.

Thorn believes that he probably can't expect any tremendous achievements from him this season, even if he hopes. The goal is instead set for the next season.

- I still hope to be able to do well this year and then I know what capacity I have.

What capacity do you have ?

- If I raise a snap from last year, I know that I can join and fight for pallet seats - that's my goal.
