Last Saturday, Sven Fornling was knocked out in the fight for the professional boxing IBO belt. On Monday he was allowed to leave the hospital in Halle, Germany and go home to Malmö - taken and beaten. SVT Sport received an initial lengthy interview with the boxer.

- I partly injured the eye where the cornea has been repaired and partly I have the bleeding, which means that I have a headache more or less constant, says Sven Fornling.

Nevertheless, the doctor's opinion has been positive. At the hospital, they were even surprised at how fast the Malmö boxer was scratching.

- There has been a bleeding in one of the membranes that protect the brain. He (the doctor) was shocked at how quickly it had healed. There is almost no blood left at all now, so I had to go home. And then in two weeks I'll be x-rayed again.

Some memories are still completely blank

But physical pain is not everything.

- What is worst for me is the pride and the honor. The anger that it became as it became in the match.

It was in the eleventh and almost the last round that Sven Fornling was knocked out by Dominic Bösel. He still doesn't remember much from the match and has a hard time distinguishing his own memories and what he has been told.

- A little more I can remember but some pieces are also completely blank. I remember that in the ninth round, I got a blow that took badly. I backed off a bit but it didn't release it felt weird. After that, I never came back really well, but it continued until I was knocked out in eleventh.

"I still love boxing"

Prescribed rest and sleep are now on the schedule. If everything looks good in two weeks, Fornling can gently start training again. In six to eight weeks he could possibly start boxing again.

And what do you feel about the boxing and career after what happened?

- I decided not to make any hasty decisions about it. The next few weeks are just about being with the family and healing together. Then I have to make a decision, says Fornling, adding:

- I know the risks of going up in the ring and I don't put any blame on the boxing. This has not changed my perception of what I like about boxing, I still love boxing. I'd rather live a day as a wolf than 100 years as a sheep.
