The Dutch curling team suffered another defeat at the European Championship on Monday. The team of national coach Shari Leibbrandt went down against Scotland in Helsingborg, Sweden: 3-9.

The Netherlands faced a large backlog early in the game and did not recover from European champion Scotland. It is the third defeat of this European Championship for the team of skip Jaap van Dorp.

Earlier this tournament, the Netherlands crashed against Switzerland (4-9) and Germany (4-6). England was won (8-5). Later on Monday the curling team is waiting for a showdown with host country and reigning world champion Sweden.

This week, the Netherlands will also compete against Denmark (November 19), Italy (November 20) and Norway (November 21). The semi-finals and the final will be finished from Thursday to Saturday.

The Netherlands hopes to finish in the first seven, as it puts the team ahead of the next two world championships. The World Cups determine who can go to the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. Last year, the Van Dorp team came in eighth at the European Championship.
