This year, the 39th event was attended by more than 200 athletes from 18 countries, including Japan, in two categories: marathon and half marathon.

The players started in front of the Oita Prefectural Office at 10:00 am, ran through the city of Oita City with a speedy run, and many people cheered along the roadside.

In the boys, Rio de Janeiro Paralympic gold medalist and Swiss Marcel Hugu, who is aiming to win the championship, and Yuki Suzuki, who has been confirmed to participate in the Tokyo Paralympics, fought for the championship. Won with a record of 1 hour 22 minutes 51 seconds.

In both cases, Masaru Watanabe and Hiroyuki Yamamoto from Fukuoka Prefecture were ranked in the top three of the Japanese and won the right to participate in the World Cup leading to the Tokyo Paralympics.

Yamamoto said, “I am relieved that I can get the minimum result. I want to make an effort to participate because the Tokyo Paralympics will be the last race in terms of age.”
