Fornling was taken to hospital immediately after the tough title match of the IBO belt in light heavyweight against Dominic Bösel in German Halle.

- We talked all night and he did a second magnetic camera examination and although I was shocked during the match, the rehab goes better and better. He will remain in the hospital for the next night, says Sven Fornling's German promoter Erol Ceylan soothing to SVT Sport.

- For a while we were worried that he would need surgery and that one would have to open the skull but he will manage this with the help of medication, says Ceylan.

The plan is for 30-year-old Fornling to be discharged from the hospital on Monday and continue the rehab in Malmö.

"May God be with him"

In a win last night, Fornling had come closer to a match against Badou Jack. Now the future is all the more uncertain.

- May God be with him and considering that the injury is so serious, it might be best to end his career. These are some of the things we get to discuss as he gets better. Now we have to devote ourselves to Sven and support him in this process and be there for him.

The doctors have also taken care to care for the wounds around the eye.

Ceylan is upset that the referee did not stop the match when Dominic Bösel peeled the Swede in the eleventh and final round.

"It is from the bleeding that the bleeding occurs and where the referee would have stopped the match," says Ceylan, explaining more about the bleeding.

- The bleeding does not come from the brain but from the area next to it, it is difficult for me as a German to describe the area in English, says Ceylan.
