Athletes and media outlets identified six observations that they described as important to the performance of the Sports Authority in the past period, including: the absence of community initiatives, the absence of plans and strategic vision related to the development of the UAE sports, the absence of a sports law that defines and regulates the relationship between the Authority and the various sports federations, and the lack of clarity and transparency in dealing With the various sports sectors, including the media, and confined their role in the distribution of financial support to sports federations, and preoccupation in the past period in skirmishes and media clashes with some federations, specifically the Football Federation in the issue of stopping financial support Before the Commission later reversed its decision in this regard, the Commission demanded that the Authority have a greater role in various fields and strongly imposed itself by launching several initiatives related to community service and the sports sector, especially following the recent changes witnessed by the Commission.
The Commission was not able to obtain a response, despite communication more than once.
The athletes told Emirates Today that the sports community in all its categories and orientations was relying on the Authority to bring real change in this sector, by focusing on solving the problems and obstacles that hinder the work of the federations and sports institutions of the Authority, and activating the role of its various departments in launching Community and other initiatives, and focus on the umbrella for all UAE athletes and bring everyone under one roof, and address the problems and disadvantages, whether related to sports federations or the sports sector in general ».
