Until last year, Sweden had four straight European gold on the men's side. But in the 2018 championships in Tallinn the victory trend ended. Despite Sweden leading the final against Scotland, it ended with a loss, 5-9.

But this time it will be gold again, the team hopes. Preparations for this year's championship have looked a little different, including more training and less competition.

- It may have gone a bit over the competition results, which has caused self-confidence to go down a bit. That is why we focus on getting a good start here. We do not want to feel any negative pressure or that there will be thoughts of worse results, skipper Niklas Edin said before the start.

Clear Swedish victory

And the curling European Championships in Helsingborg could hardly have started better. The opening match against Denmark ended with a clear Swedish victory with 9–3.

In addition to skipper Niklas Edin, the Swedish national team, Edin, consists of Oskar Eriksson, Rasmus Wranå, Christoffer Sundgren and Daniel Magnusson. The coach is Fredrik Lindberg.
