Pittsburgh quarterback Mason Rudolph had passed the ball when he got a late tackle from Cleveland's Myles Garrett, whereupon the brawl started. Rudolph's teammates David DeCastro and Matt Feiler tried to get rid of Garrett, who nevertheless pulled off his helmet on Rudolph and hit the Pittsburgh player in the head, with Rudolph's own helmet.

"Fun done"

Rudolph suffered a concussion earlier this season when he was tackled unconscious in a game against Baltimore in early October.

- It was cowardly done by him (Garrett). But that's okay, I'll take it. I will not back away from any bullies out there, ”Rudolph, who was not injured in the brawl, tells reporters after the match.

After the battle, DeCastro tackled Garrett to the ground. On the ground, Garrett received a blow from Maurkice Pouncey who also fired a kick at him. It all ended with Garrett and Pouncey being shown off the pitch. Cleveland's Larry Ogunjobi also had to leave after coming in late and from behind pushing Mason Rudolph down to the ground.

- I made a mistake and dropped the cold. It will come back and hurt our team. I appreciate that the guys in my team jumped in and helped but it shouldn't have gone that far. That's my fault, Garrett says.

"Will be turned off"

Now a long shutdown awaits Garrett. The American Football League NFL has decided not to let the 23-year-old play more this season and when the suspension expires has not yet been determined.

At least, that is, if Cleveland misses the playoffs, Garrett will miss six games.

Cleveland won the match with 21–7.
