It was decided that Shohei Ohno, who won a gold medal at the Judo World Championship, would miss the international tournament this month, which was likely to be decided as a representative of the Tokyo Olympics.

This was revealed by the All Japan Judo Federation on the 15th. Ohno, who won the gold medal at the 73km class of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, won the gold medal at the World Championship held in Tokyo last summer.

Ono won the international tournament “Grand Slam Osaka” starting on the 22nd of this month, and if he agreed with more than two-thirds of the members of the Reinforcement Committee, he could be selected as the Tokyo Olympics representative.

According to the All Japan Judo Federation, Ohno was left with an index finger on his left hand that was injured in late last month and was diagnosed as a contusion for the entire six weeks of this month. The decision of the Tokyo Olympics representative candidate in this class will be carried over next year.
