It is more difficult than for a long time to guess who will receive Swedish women's football's most honored award. Ahead of the Football Gala on Monday, there are several candidates for the Diamond Ball, but perhaps CD Tacón midfielder Kosovare Asllani and Wolfsburg goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl stand out a bit from the crowd.

Both made outstanding efforts in the summer World Cup and contributed strongly to the Swedish bronze scrap.

- If you want to sum up the year, it has been very good, especially considering the World Cup. It is mainly the result from there that I am most satisfied with, and my performance there, to be contributing especially in the national team context, says Kosovare Asllani.

Hedvig Lindahl was equally important in Sweden's success - perhaps most memorable is the decisive penalty in the eighth quarter-final against Canada - but came to the World Cup with a bit of self-confidence. This spring's heavy period in English Chelsea, where Lindahl ended up in the freezer box, can be crucial when choosing the best Swedish player of the year, she believes.

- I think "Kosse" gets the Diamond Ball. It just feels that way. She had a strong World Cup and it feels like many people talk a lot about her. I think I have great chances too, but I don't think I get it. I have had a good season, but I think spring will do it for me, says Hedvig Lindahl.

However, Kosovare Asllani does not believe that.

- No, then I say Hedvig Lindahl gets it. She has made an amazing season. She just gets better and better, and as a player it is so nice to have such a goalkeeper who is so confident and who contributes a lot on the pitch, says Asllani.

Other players who may be conceivable winners are national team captain Caroline Seger, Chelseabacken Magdalena Eriksson, last year's winner Nilla Fischer and Asllani's teammate in CD Tacón, striker Sofia Jakobsson. But Eriksson only laughs when she comments on her own chances of getting the Diamond Ball.

- No, I'm not there yet. But it feels like there are many who have had fantastic years. It feels incredibly difficult, but for me it stands between Nilla Fischer, Hedvig Lindahl, Kosovare Asllani and Caroline Seger, says Magdalena Eriksson.

Hedvig Lindahl looks forward to going to the gal, whether she is praised or not.

- The football gala has evolved into something that we can be very proud of. It is actually something that many people in the world should look at and use as an example when it comes to praising both boys and girls and how to name prices. It has not been given in all other countries.
