For the next season, the IAAF has decided to cancel the discus from the Diamond League competitions, among other things. Now a rebellion has started, on the initiative of Daniel Ståhl and his coach Vesteinn Hafsteinsson. Today, they go out in an open letter and describe their dissatisfaction.

Ståhl says that the reactions among his competitors have been strong.

- Of course, they are completely distressed, they are all cursed. This is discrimination straight away. You can't just remove the oldest sport we have of all time. Discus was invented in 776 before Christ and has continued until now all over the world. Discus is the heart of the Olympic branch athletics, it has always been there.

How did you feel?

- I was totally devastated, sorry. You don't. You can't just remove a sport. It's like removing the cross-country skis from Charlotte Kalla, the tennis player for Roger Federer in Wimbledon. To remove the discus in the Diamond League, corresponding to the Champions League in football. It's absolutely awful, useless.

What will this mean for you financially?

- It will be bad you can say. But I have to drive on and find other solutions so that I get a good economy. Throwing a world record and winning Olympic gold is the goal. We now hope 100 percent that Sebastian Coe and the international association will listen and read this letter. I hope he (Coe) realizes that he has gone completely wrong.
