"It hurt in my heart to see the devastation when everyone left Östgötaporten after the match", writes IFK Norrköping's club director Jens Magnusson in an open letter on the club's website.

Djurgården led the Allsvenskan ahead of the last match away against IFK Norrköping last Saturday. Therefore, there was great pressure on tickets and many Djurgården supporters supported tickets and annual tickets in the secondary market.

Holes in the artificial grass

"A lot of people from Stockholm thus ended up in the wrong sections ... the match last Saturday was far from the positive experience we had hoped for for many of our visitors," Magnusson writes.

Through 2–2, Djurgården secured the victory in the Allsvenskan. Immediately after the end signal, Djurgårdensupporter stormed the plane and left what Magnusson calls a "devastation".

According to Aftonbladet, all training on the pitch has been suspended until further notice, when the injury is about holes in the artificial green and destroyed chairs on the stands.

Magnusson writes that the club has a lot of work ahead of it to restore the arena after Djurgården's gold celebration, but that you have a good dialogue with the parties involved.

The team bears responsibility for its supporters

"It's very sad when this happens, but there are well-established routines for how to handle the situation when it arises," says Mats Enquist, general secretary of Swedish elite football, to TT.

TT: Is the damage something an arranging team can expect?

- You shouldn't say that. In general, negative behaviors like these are decreasing, even though we are increasing in the arenas. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens, but it's not the club's fault. There are a few individuals who lose their heads, which is incredibly sad in a situation where everyone should be very happy.

Mats Enquist says that the guest team is responsible for what their supporters do, but that individual individuals can be prosecuted using, for example, films from surveillance cameras.

- It is important to distinguish between a few individuals who go on the brink of support and on supporters in general. However, it is rare that individual persons are prosecuted for damage at such a low level. Most often, the teams involved solve the problems among themselves, he says.

Djurgården's security manager, Mats Jonsson, tells Expressen that the club is ready to pay IFK Norrköping for the costs incurred as a result of the damage.

- There is a regulatory framework that governs what applies in Swedish football and we have no intention not to relate to it. On the contrary - it is clear that you have to live up to the rules that apply, he says.
