Tayler Mingo was crowned the league's best player for the 2017/18 season. Now she is back in Telge on a short term contract. She started on the bench but put 14 points in 11 minutes playing time in the first period. Mingo played seven games for Umeå last year and she then got more and more time on the course in the even match that Telge led with 42-36 at the break.

"It's fun to play against my old club but the focus now is to win with Telge," Mingo told SVT Sport at the break.

The 27-year-old American dominated with speed, technique, three-point shooting and the ability to walk towards the basket.

"We can't let her (Mingo) do what she wants," said Umeås Alyssa Lawrence after two periods.

Smooth and dramatic

In the final period, Umeå had turned and led the most with 60-56. But the end was very smooth and dramatic. Tayler Mingo was the safety himself at the penalty kick line, she put everyone and the two to 69-66 became crucial. With three seconds left, Umeå missed his three-point attempt for receipt.

Tayler Mingo scored 21 points in his comeback, while Sharper in Telge was Sarah Toeaina who made 23.

- We stick to our match plan and do well, not least in defense, says Telges Ellen Åström after the match.

Five straight now, how is this going to end?

- With SM gold, clearly, says Åström and laughs.

Telge thus goes up in the series lead with five wins in six matches. Umeå falls in sixth place and tomorrow rushes to Ankara for Euro Cup play.
