Former Mexican coach Javier Aguirre is close to taking over the leadership of Spain's Leganes, Spanish media reported on Monday.

According to sports daily AS, the negotiations with Aguirre are in a very advanced stage, coinciding with the end of the interim period of the management of the team by assistant coach, Luis Sembranos, after the sacking of Argentine Mauricio Pellegrino, due to poor results recently.

It is noteworthy that Aguirre has not coached any team, or team since his dismissal from coaching Egypt, following the exit of the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations 2019.
