  • Moto2.Álex Márquez is already Moto2 World Champion: the little one makes his way

In the MotoGP World Cup carousel, where enmity is exaggerated and cordiality hardly makes its way, Maverick Viñales is a rarity. As everyone maintains that rough pose, almost an obligation in his sport, but in the vicinity is a diaphanous and even sensitive pilot, willing to lend a hand. Does that character hurt you on asphalt? It is very possible. In the outings and overtaking Viñales suffers from an excess of delicacy, always avoids harming third parties, always flees from controversy, and too many times that balks their results. In his fifth season in MotoGP, the third among the Yamaha crisis, he has not yet achieved that aggressiveness that allows him to face Marc Márquez and, despite everything, continues in the search.

This Sunday in Sepang he got his second victory of the year with the tactic he enjoys most, escaping from the first laps, and confirmed that the next course will try again.

Bad times are not so bad anymore. In the first months of the season, seeing that his Yamaha was again moving away from the podium, Viñales suffered his nth crisis of confidence and lost his mind. "I am very frustrated," he admitted to EL MUNDO in the spring, although little by little he was meeting. In Assen he celebrated his first win of the year and then won four more podiums until last week, on Philip Island, he was one lap away from victory. Márquez frustrated him there, but Viñales learned the lesson: if he could open a hole he had to do it. This Sunday in Sepang, while Márquez fought to overcome from the eleventh place on the grid, Viñales won a second of advantage and when the current MotoGP champion wanted to catch him he could no longer. Only the fight for third place on the podium, which took Andrea Dovizioso ahead of Valentino Rossi, would be left behind.

Now Viñales just has to maintain inertia. Because last year he also completed a hopeful championship final, with a victory at Philip Island, and appeared in the following preseason with some problems that he would drag for months. If you continue with the current streak and in Yamaha they can offer you a higher top speed, in 2020 Viñales could be, finally, the rival of Márquez who has promised himself since childhood.
