The match between Everton and Tottenham Hotspur (1-1) in the Premier League was completely overshadowed on Sunday by a terrible injury from André Gomes. The Portuguese midfielder from Everton probably broke his lower leg with a charge from Heung-Min Son, who was red for that.
Ten minutes before time, Son started a hard tackle on Gomes, who was busy dribbling on the sidelines. The midfielder then collided with Serge Aurier and lay down with his leg in an unnatural position.
Referee Martin Atkinson initially came on for Son with a yellow card, but changed his mind when he saw the damage. The South Korean attacker visibly left the field excitedly.
Former Barcelona player Gomes had to be stabilized on the field for minutes before he could move to the side with a stretcher. Tottenham was leading 0-1 at that time thanks to a goal from Dele Alli. With a man more, Everton scored a point for the home team thanks to a goal from Cenk Tosun in injury time.
Both Tottenham and Everton do not get along much with the draw. The 'Spurs' are eleventh with thirteen points from eleven duels, the 'Toffees' are in seventeenth place (eleven points) but just above the relegation line.
Leicester wins again and is third
Leicester City booked another win a week after the controversial 0-9 win over Southampton. On a visit to Cyrstal Palace, the team of coach Brendan Rodgers won 0-2 on Sunday.
Leicester is therefore again in third place in the Premier League, with 23 points from 11 games. Only the main title candidates Liverpool (31) and Manchester City (25) are in better shape.
Leicester made the difference against Crystal Palace in the second half. The Turk Caglar Söyüncü opened the score after 57 minutes with a header from Patrick van Aanholt. Jamie Vardy made it 0-2 just in time after a smooth attack.
Van Aanholt played the entire game at Crystal Palace. The London club is in ninth place in the middle bracket.
The 0-9 of last week meant for Leicester an equalization of the biggest victory ever in the Premier League (after the Manchester United 9-0 against Ipswich Town in 1995) and was even the largest win in the highest English division.
Everton and Tottenham Hotspur also take action on Sunday afternoon. The duel between the numbers seventeen and thirteen of the Premier League started at 5.30 p.m.
