After 2-0 against the Netherlands in the World Cup final, the US defended its world championship title this summer. One month after the success, gold coach Jill Ellis, along with assistant coach Tony Gustavsson, decided to quit.

Now Northern Macedonian Vlatko Andonovski is ready to take over as the new national team for the American women's team.

- I am extremely excited, honored and privileged to have this opportunity to coach the best national team in the world. Getting to work with some of the world's best footballers, I'm really excited about this opportunity. I can hardly wait until I get started, he says during a press conference.

- The Olympics are barely a year away and the most important thing for us is to qualify there. That is what is first on the agenda.

Andonovski has coached Seattle Reign for two years, where, among other things, national team star Megan Rapinoe plays, and also led Kansas City to two titles in the highest league (2013 and 2017). The representative, Jill Ellis, won the World Cup gold with the USA in both 2015 and 2019 during his five years as head coach.
