Sophia Popov from Germany is one of six players who currently stands at five over par and balances on the limit that gives a card to the best golf course for women. Swedes Louise Ridderström and Linnea Johansson are three strokes ahead of two over pairs and can secure a reliable LPGA card with a decent round tonight.

A star shot in Swedish women's golf, the world's highest ranked amateur, on the other hand, Frida Kinhult played away his chances tonight. 80 strokes means that she is now seven strokes after the German Popov.

Kinhult has been successful in his Florida State college team and actually has three years left at the school. But the Swede decided to try his luck at recording on the LPGA tour this year. There will be many more chances for Kinhult over the next few years.

185 players from 32 countries were included in the qualifying start. Tomorrow two Swedes may be among the 45 who manage to get through the needle eye.
