In London pubs, it's the cold shower for English fans. Faces are closed, incredulous. Some even have tears in their eyes. Throughout the match, they sang at every opportunity and applauded each penalty. They pushed their players to the end. But it was hardly lost. South Africa rolled into England on Saturday in the final of the Rugby World Cup (32-12).

"It's pretty painful," Phil admits sadly, groaning in discontent. "It was over from kickoff, disappointing, frustrating, especially after playing so well last week."
