Tonight came the announcement that there will be a move of the marathon and walking competitions in the Olympics next year, from Tokyo to the six degrees cooler Sapporo. The reason is the extreme heat in Tokyo, similar to the one in Doha - where a third of the marathon runners broke the competition at the World Cup just over a month ago.

One who, during the World Cup, experienced how hard it can be to run in 30-degree heat and high humidity was Cecilia Norrbom. She was forced to break after 25 kilometers. Her legs folded and she was allowed to go with an ambulance golf cart, and from there in a wheelchair and then received care in the sick tent.

Norrbom rift

Now, just over a month later, she says she has no desire to run a new marathon under similar conditions.

- I wouldn't want to run in that climate again, if you think about what happened to me, she tells SVT Sport.

- It is preferable for marathon races to run in humane climates.

However, she understands that it was a difficult decision for the organizers to move the competitions to Sapporo, which is as much as 80 km north of Tokyo.

- The Olympics is the greatest sporting experience there is. So I understand that moving from the capital is a difficult decision. It is hard to know what to think ... It is not fun to run a marathon in that type of climate, but I do not know ... I find it difficult to say what to do and what is right and error in the issue.
