When AIK this year makes a comeback in the band's finery after more than 50 years of absence, they will play their home games at the unforgettable Bergshamra IP arena. However, they had really wanted to play on Zinkensdamm's IP, which is Hammarby's arena.

But the Stockholm competitor said no to that.

- They have sat down a little for different reasons. In part, it is perhaps a little fear that we will be bigger, I do not know, and traditionally there is a resistance between the Stockholm clubs which I think is crap because it has nothing to do with the sport, says AIK chairman Marco Engborg to SVT Sport in an interview that was done about two weeks ago.

"Radical change"

When Hammarby's chairman Anders Gidrup hears about Engborg's statement, he laughs first, and then says:

- It must stand for him.

Why did you say no to AIK's request?

- For our part, it would mean a fairly radical change in ice ages and conditions for our young people, who are totally dependent on these ice ages. And also all the logistics it means for all teams to possibly change places and play out in Bergshamra. And this is our home arena after all, so it was not a difficult choice for us, but it had become far too much consequences for our young people and even their parents - including leaders - to change, so we on the board did not find it as something alternative.
