The World Cup season ended Tuesday with a sprint in Chinese Guangzhou. The home team was very surprised when two unknown runners ran home the victory in the women's and third place in the men's class.

Gustav Bergman understands that he is raising his eyebrows, especially considering the cheating that was discovered during the military world games recently, when China debated after cheating.

- None of the Chinese runners have been close to these results before, and especially on the men's side, it was a total dominance from China in the inaugural party that was the most technically challenging, before the "regular" top runners returned to the more physical the parties, he tells SVT Sport.

"An investigation is in place"

He welcomes the fact that the IOF should now continue and investigate the case.

- I think it is very good that the IOF takes this seriously, and that an investigation is in place. If it turns out that it has been cheated, it is obviously extremely boring, he says and continues:

- Orientation is based on so much on fair play, and if it is people or groups that do not take those pieces seriously they destroy for the whole sport.

No protest was filed

According to the IOF, no one submitted any protest during the competitions, and the results therefore became official and valid according to their regulations. Nor did Bergman consider submitting a protest.

- No, we know way too little, and I really don't want to point fingers at anyone without having their feet properly. I myself know how awful it is to be blamed for something. But it is very good that the IOF is investigating this, so that we can find out what happened, he says.
