Luleå has not lost in the Swedish ice hockey league since 1-4 away against Frölunda on October 12. As the league leader from Gothenburg lost 2–3 away to Malmö on Thursday night, the Northern Bots are also SHL's most formidable team.

At home against Rögle, it was 4-1 - Luleå's fifth straight victory which took the team to a fourth place in the table.

"Just a tray"

Forwards veteran Daniel Widing - formerly in Leksand, Brynäs, Djurgården, Skellefteå and Rögle - debuted for Luleå and entered a fourth chain with Jack Connolly and Austin Farley.

"I just want to be a tile in the game, be able to come in with good energy in the dressing room and on the ice," Widing told C More before the match.

It ended with success against Ängelholmslaget Widing ended last season in.

The 37-year-old, who had not played a match since the eighth-finals loss to HV71 in March, was on the ice both when Farley trailed 1-0 with 39 seconds left of the first period and when slug Daniel Sondell put 3.07 in the second.

Austin Farley paid tribute to his new chain mate who had just done a training with Luleå before the match.

The first two of the team captain

- It went pretty well. He is a good player and has been in the league for a long time. We talked about getting down the pucks behind their slopes before the game and playing easily. He has been phenomenal, American Farley tells C More.

Team captain Erik Gustafsson set his first goal of the season to 3-0 for Luleå in 17.23 in the second period. Rögle reduced to 1-3 5.21 in the third period, the first SHL goal in the career of 19-year-old Kevin Wennström after a beautiful attack.

Luleå, however, kept away, Gustafsson put his second in the match to 4-1 in the open box with 1.28 left of the third. Rögle thus went on the team's third loss (one of which after an extension) on their last four SHL matches and fell from second to third place in the table.

- We control and post, says Erik Gustafsson to C More.

"The best team won," Rögles coach Cam Abbott told C More.
