The UAE Women's Championships have concluded the sixth edition of the GCC women's sport tournament, held in Kuwait, with 56 medals.

Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women's Union and Head of the Emirates Women's Sports Committee, said: President of the General Women's Union President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation (Umm Al Emarat), and Her Highness's many contributions to the advancement of women's sports in various fields ».

She also said that «the qualitative leap in the level of results in this session was achieved thanks to the attention and follow-up of the wise leadership, which was keen to provide all support to the players participating in the session, and provide all the conditions for achieving the best results».

The session concluded yesterday, with a special ceremony reflecting the fragrant heritage of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in the presence of UAE Ambassador to Kuwait, Saqer Nasser Al-Raisi, and a number of women sports leaders in the GCC.

At the end of the ceremony, Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah handed over the course flag to Sheikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al-Khalifa, on the occasion of the relocation of the organizing committee from Kuwait to Bahrain.

The "Women of Determination" team led the athletics competitions with 30 colored medals with 19 gold, six silver and five bronze. This achievement is a record compared to the previous harvest, which went from five medals in the first round in Kuwait 2008 to 56 in the last round.

UAE recovers two gold

The UAE recovered two gold medals after accepting the protest by the head of the delegation, Mona Al Shamsi, to the General Secretariat of the Organizing Committee that the two medals were not included in the overall ranking.
